Plenty of sneakers have had their moment dressed in a sweater, but very few have looked as good as the Nike Dunk SB High. In 2010, somewhere in the middle of Nike SB’s Blue Box Era, the brand dropped the “Huxtable” high top. The shoe takes classic Dunk High color blocking and replaces some of the leather with colorful textile materials inspired by the sweaters worn by Cliff Huxtable(played by Bill Cosby) in the popular 80’s sitcom, The Cosby Show. This material can also be found on the sock liner, insoles, and tongue lining. The sneaker is branded with a black swoosh on either side and a black/white tongue tag. The vibrant upper sits on top of a black midsole and white outsole.
Recently we had a pair come through Laramerchi for a full restoration and the whole team was really excited about it! Starting with a premium steam clean, we removed any dirt/stains from the upper as well as cleaned and disinfected the interior of the sneaker. We got to scrubbing the sols to get rid of stuck on dirt and bring the bottoms back to white. Now for the fun part. Since this sneaker is 12 years old there was some separation where the textile met the midsole. We carefully applied glue to re-adhere the materials together and secure this sneaker for wear well into it’s teen years.
